Wainfest Events & Art Competition

Come and join us this Autumn for more fun and learning in the great outdoors…  

Back agLove Autumn Artain after last year’s successful events, our Education Team are offering self-guided activities for school and families as well as some special creative work in our Log Cabin in the woods on the Derrylahan Trail.

  • Self-Guided Art Trail – Discover nature & art along the track and display your own creations! Running all week from Sunday 3rd  to Sunday 10th October from 12 – 4.30pm. Ask our Visitor Guides on arrival for information & directions. Starting point is the Education Tent at the start of the path to the castle.
  • Our Education Guide and local artist Alarnagh Barrett McGinley will be working on a Willow Sculpture throughout the week. Feel free to come along and have a look!


  • School Art Competition What does ‘Protect Nature’ mean to you? Why is it important to protect nature? How can we protect nature in Glenveagh National Park?  Create a piece of artwork on the theme Protect Nature’

Categories & Age Levels:

  • Primary Juniors (4-8)
  • Primary Seniors (9-12)
  • Post Primary (13+)
  • 3D modelling

Entries can be A4, A5 or 3D modelling in any medium.

All entries will be on display in the National Park throughout the autumn & winter season. Prizes include Protect Nature Goody Bags and the chance to have your artwork used in future National Park publications.
