Once the old police barracks on the estate at the time of the Castle being built, The Bridge House is now a specially dedicated space for learning….
The house and garden have been lovingly restored and furnished to inspire interest in nature and to develop an appreciation for the natural world. The House is the base for the Education Team who work throughout the entire park, as well as in our nature reserves and their variety of habitats. Through creative and professionally written programmes they teach all ages about biodiversity and conservation. Families are also welcome to visit the centre at special weekends/events and a series of nature based talks and teacher training courses are also scheduled throughout the year.
We cover general ecology, biology, conservation and sustainability, extending across many areas in the SESE and STEM curriculums. We can also tailor special activity days to suit your groups needs. Talks and presentations to third level institutions can also be provided as well as outreach services to local communities and online lessons.
The Bridge House is an accredited Discover Primary Science and Maths Centre and we do our utmost to include all aspects of STEM in each field trip visit. From 2021 we have become a Leave No Trace training facility and can offer courses and activities linked to this outdoor ethics education programme.
