Mission of Garden Team

Through horticultural craftsmanship to conserve and enhance the Castle Gardens. Through educational activities foster understanding of the importance of conservation of our cultural and natural heritage.

· Literature and Plant Records –

Through the Castle and Garden Guidebook and other printed information we tell the story of Glenveagh, explaining the ecology of the local flora and raise awareness of the management strategies within the park and throughout the region. An archive of historic documentation is kept in the Garden Office along with a computerised database, recording plant introductions.

· Educational Activities that foster understanding of –

What is Conservation; Who does it; and How do they do it; Why plants are important; What is Native and What is Introduced; What is Biodiversity; What is unique or special about Glenveagh, the Northwest, the island of Ireland; Growing trees for their long-term benefits; Conserving our living heritage in the Garden.
